Paulsen Discusses Healthcare Reform on FOX News

Eden Prairie, MN – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, appeared this afternoon on Fox News’ America’s News HQ program to discuss the dangers of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) outlined in the President's new healthcare law. IPAB is a new fifteen-member board of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats the President's new health care law places in charge of Medicare payments and services. Below are excerpts from the interview.

“This is going to be 15 unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats that will have the authority to deny payments to physicians or care for seniors. This has strong bipartisan support. I do expect that just as it passed in our committee last week it will as well pass in the house in the near future. “

“The bottom line here is that we need to make sure that we as elected officials are serving our Medicare beneficiaries who elect us rather that giving unelected bureaucrats  the authority to do this - because now we are allowing the government to step in between a doctor and a patient in that relationship, and we should not be doing that.”

“We are going to do healthcare in the right way for the patient-centered doctor patient relationship.”
