Paulsen Co-sponsors Bill to Protect American Job Creators

Supports legislation to level playing field with non-market economies

Washington, D.C. – In an effort to level the playing field for U.S. job creators and workers who face unfairly subsidized imports from countries like China, Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, today voted for H.R. 4105. Rep. Paulsen co-sponsored the legislation which confirms the Department of Commerce’s ability to apply duties on goods imported from countries that unfairly subsidize their own exports. The law is a critical enforcement tool allowed by World Trade Organization rules to counteract unfair foreign subsidies and defend American jobs.

“This important bipartisan bicameral legislation preserves our ability to fight unfair subsidies used by countries like China which injure American industries, cost American jobs, and cause distortions in the global marketplace. By re-establishing and fortifying a free, fair, and competitive marketplace we ensure Minnesota job creators have the tools they need to compete, grow, and hire.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus, as well as the U.S.–Korea Free Trade Working Group.
