Paulsen Condemns Arizona Shooting

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Erik Paulsen issued the following statement regarding the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and others in Tucson, AZ:

"I am deeply saddened by the senseless attacks in Arizona whose victims include my good friend and colleague Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. I’ve known Gabby since 2005, before either of us was elected to Congress, when we were participants in several fellowship programs.  She is a bright, energetic, and hard-working public servant who always has a smile on her face. Kelly and I will keep Rep. Giffords, her husband Mark and family, and the other victims and their families in our prayers."

Rep. Paulsen asks that anyone interested in helping in wake of this tragedy honor Congresswoman Giffords' Husband Mark Kelly's request which he made in the following statement:

"Many of you have offered help. There is little that we can do but pray for those who are struggling. If you are inspired to make a positive gesture, consider two organizations that Gabby has long valued and supported: Tucson’s Community Food Bank and the American Red Cross.”
