Paulsen Applauds Passage of Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act

Legislation Includes Provisions Authored By Rep. Paulsen to Assist At-Risk Individuals

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03), issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 307, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act. The legislation would support the readiness of the public health system to address public health and medical emergencies. Rep. Paulsen co-authored a provision in the bill directing the HHS Secretary to improve public health emergency preparedness, response, outreach and communication with respect to at-risk individuals, including those with disabilities. This provision is an important first step in improving a vital element of our health care system.

“I am pleased to see that the provisions I have been working on with now-Senator Baldwin to help improve our nation’s critical care capabilities are included in this important legislation. This bill will go a long way in helping us become better prepared for public health emergencies and strengthen our nation’s preparedness infrastructure. I am hopeful the Senate will soon take action.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
