FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 8th, 2013

Erik's Correspondence Corner:

The Violence Against Women Act

Washington, D.C. – This week on Erik’s Correspondence Corner, Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) answers an important question on the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) that he’s received from constituents around the district. Last week, Rep. Paulsen voted in favor of the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2013, which passed the House by a vote of 286 - 138. The Violence Against Women Act is bipartisan legislation that is critical to protecting women from domestic violence, assault, and stalking. Rep. Paulsen worked closely with victims’ advocates and housing organizations on provisions to provide victims with additional housing opportunities, which is critical for their safety.

Each week, Representative Paulsen receives thousands of letters, emails, tweets, Facebook posts, and phone calls from constituents voicing their opinions. Through this video series, Representative Paulsen regularly responds to constituent correspondence on a variety of topics.

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
