Yoho Votes To Put America On A Sound Fiscal Path

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) issued the following statement supporting House Republicans’ Fiscal Year 2015 budget resolution:

“Today I voted to get America’s fiscal house in order. The challenges we face are only going to get worse if Congress didn’t take a stand and chart a new course for our country. The budget proposal we passed today from Chairman Paul Ryan, addresses very important issues that – left unchecked – threaten the health of our country.

This budget will:

• Make needed spending cuts ($5.1 trillion) that begin to put us on a path to paying off our exploding 17 trillion dollar debt.
• Reduce public debt from 73% of the GDP in 2015 to 56% of the GDP by 2024.
• Implement pro-growth tax and regulatory reforms that will help our economy grow.
• Strengthen the safety net for current and future generations. If we do nothing, the safety nets that so many Americans depend on today will simply not be there tomorrow.
• Strengthen Medicare. It makes no changes for those in or near retirement. For future generations, it will offer them a range of plans—including traditional Medicare—from which they can choose. No senior can be denied coverage. Every senior will have the support they need to get the care they deserve.
• Repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and clear the way for a more patient-centered alternative.

“You can have your own opinion about this proposal, but the fiscal numbers we are facing do not lie. Is this plan perfect? No. No plan is perfect, but it is a solid proposal that deals with very serious issues facing our country. We - as Members of Congress - have an obligation to our constituents and the American people to be honest about our current state of affairs and come up with solutions that will remedy the problems that face us. If we don’t implement solutions now, then when?”
