Congressman Holding Votes to Pass National Defense Authorization Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for FY2014, Congressman George Holding released a statement:
“Today on Flag Day and the Army’s 238th birthday, we give thanks to all of those who are currently serving our country. Our troops sacrifice so much for us – they leave behind love ones, endure extreme mental and physical challenges, and risk their lives for our country. We need to ensure that our service members are provided with the resources they need while they are fighting for our freedom – and the bill we passed in the House today does just that. This year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY2014 supports our troops and military families and offers more protection for women in the military. It not only facilitates the development of protective body armor designed for female service members, but also places an emphasis on prevention and prosecution of sexual assault offenses. It also creates specific deployment guidelines which make things easier on families, so that troops are not asked to leave their spouses and children in just a few days’ notice. This year’s NDAA reins in wasteful spending and controls costs while protecting the safety of our warfighters and our national security.”
