Congressman Holding Statement on Interim Progress Report on Benghazi Attacks

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congressman George Holding issued the following statement regarding the Interim Progress Report on the Benghazi Attacks:

 

“Yesterday, five House committees provided a progress report on their ongoing, joint Congressional investigation into the events surrounding the terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. It is painfully clear from the findings that senior State Department officials failed to take seriously the threats to U.S. personnel prior to the attack.

 

The administration disregarded multiple warnings about the worsening security situation in the region and ignored repeated requests for additional security on the ground. After the attack, the administration mislead the American public and Congress by altering accurate talking points provided by our Intelligence Community.

 

As a member of the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, I will continue Congress’ oversight and work to address the systematic failures outlined in the report and most importantly – ensure that those responsible for the deaths of four Americans are held accountable.
