Congressman Holding Statement on Budget Deal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After House passage of the Ryan-Murray budget deal, Congressman George Holding released the following statement:

 

“I came to Washington to cut spending and tackle the hard issues that are saddling our future generations with unstainable amounts of debt. Unfortunately this budget deal shows just how backwards things are in Washington.

 

It increases spending by $63 billion over the next two years while promising to make cuts in the future. Congress also promised to cut spending with the Budget Control Act and look at how quickly we have moved to violate those spending caps.

 

We cannot continue to increase spending when we are already borrowing at an unsustainable rate – more government spending doesn’t solve the problem, it is the problem.”
