Rokita: Medical reform will happen

Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.), an AOPA member, said in the Sept. 18 episode that efforts to reform the third class medical are moving forward: Additional co-sponsors have signed on to the bill, which would lift the burden of the third class medical from many pilots, and the FAA has promised rules addressing medical reform. Lawmakers will “keep up the flank” to make sure reform happens, he said.

Stakeholders meet to talk about lake issues, endangered mussels

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, NIPSCO, county commissioners, Shafer and Freeman Lakes Environmental Conservation Corporation and U.S. Congressman Todd Rokita were some of the agencies involved. Topics discussed included how the Oakdale Dam must operate to comply with the Endangered Species Act. NIPSCO spokesperson Nick Meyer said the meeting allows NIPSCO to explain the changes.
