Congresswoman Beatty Statement on the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement on the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act:
“In the fifty years since President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1964 into law our country has come a long way -- the end of Jim Crow, integration of our public schools, and the election of our first Black President. While we have made great progress, we must continue to fight for justice and equality at the polls, equal pay in the workplace, and access to affordable education.”
