CONGRESSMAN KENNEDY STATEMENT ON ISIL

Washington, DC -- Congressman Joe Kennedy III released the following statement following President Obama's national address on ISIL.

“ISIL will require a strong response from the United States and international community. Tonight the President laid out a solid argument for action and gave much-needed insight into the Administration’s objectives in the region. However, many important questions still remain. In the days ahead, the American people deserve a thoughtful and thorough debate about the mission, timeline, cost and exit strategy associated with this plan. For that to happen, the President must come to Congress. We should not involve American equipment, treasure or troops in a long-term mission abroad without comprehensive deliberation about what that means for our country.  This is a lesson the US has not learned lightly and a level of due diligence we owe the servicemen, women and families asked to shoulder these costly conflicts.”
