FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 28, 2014

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (MD-4) released the following statement regarding President Obama’s intention to use an executive order to raise the minimum wage for government contract workers to $10.10 per hour.

“I applaud President Obama’s decision to raise the minimum wage for government contract workers. As a strong leader on Ranking Member Miller’s (CA-11) minimum wage bill, that includes my proposed increase for tipped workers, I know this will benefit thousands of contract workers in areas across the federal government.  While this is an important step, we must build on this progress by continuing to call for a long-overdue increase to the federal minimum wage.  America’s minimum wage earners, including government contract workers, work hard every day and deserve a decent wage.”
