Congressional Art Competition

Each year the Congressional Art Competition, "An Artistic Discovery," is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage the artistic talent around the nation and specifically in each member's congressional district. This competition is open to all high-school students and the winner's art piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

There are three important forms to be included with each student's art submission: the student art submission checklist, the student guidelines and the student release form. You can find these forms on the Congressional Art Competition website here. Guidelines for the Congressional Art Competition can be accessed here.

The Fourth District winner, along with one guest, will be flown to Washington, D.C. for the congressional celebration, (the exact date is still to be determined but will be sometime in late June), courtesy of Southwest Airlines.

All art pieces must be submitted by 5:00PM CT on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Congressman's Ames Office located at 1421 South Bell Avenue, Suite 102, Ames, Iowa 50010. All entries submitted must be original in concept, design and execution.

For further information or details regarding the Congressional Art Competition, students and teachers should contact Jeremy Davis in the Ames office at 515-232-2885.
