At a press conference this afternoon, I spoke about the harmful impact of the extreme Republican budget on manufacturing, and the need to take action to reauthorize the America COMPETES Act and the Export-Import Bank. http://1.usa.gov/1hhSnib

On this day in 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life was tragically cut short. I join in remembering this fearless leader and unwavering advocate for civil rights and equality.

Today’s schedule: Instead of acting on a bipartisan agreement, the Republican-led House of Representatives has turned a permanent fix to the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) of Medicare into a partisan issue by attaching their 51st attempt to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act.

Um, I didn't 'cite' MSNBC +G Nagaye. I explained they are not pushing propaganda, they tell no lies but cover stories that appeal to left-leaners. Unlike FOX. +ricky turner, read for context. I already agreed MSNBC has an opinion. Opinion does not equal propaganda. What FOX 'News' does IS propaganda. Has THE most uninformed viewers for a reason, FOX does not mention inconvenient truths. Or much of any truths.

The House Republican leadership uses an online tool, Citizen Cosponsor, where the public can express support for bills.  A large majority of Americans support raising the minimum wage, and Citizen Cosponsor can be used to demand that Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor stop blocking a vote on raising the minimum wage. You can make your voice heard here: https://www.cosponsor.gov/details/hr1010-113

“In truth, there is only one way to regard a minimum wage law: it is compulsory unemployment, period. The law says: it is illegal, and therefore criminal, for anyone to hire anyone else below the level of X dollars an hour. This means, plainly and simply, that a large number of free and voluntary wage contracts are now outlawed and hence that there will be a large amount of unemployment. Remember that the minimum wage law provides no jobs; it only outlaws them; and outlawed jobs are the inevitable result." - Murray Rothbard

This year’s Republican budget builds on the disastrous approach Republicans have followed over the past three years, embracing the painful and irrational sequestration cuts and slashing funding that supports investments in opportunity, growth, and security.  Additionally, Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget ends the Medicare guarantee as we know it, turns Medicaid into a block grant, repeals the Affordable Care Act, fails to invest in job creation, and does not include any new revenue.  His budget simply doesn’t work – and would lead to significant harm for our country.

So you voted for Mitt, we've heard it over and over and over again. You must think that puts you in good standing with the other nimrods in the party that lied us into Iraq and Afghanistan on the country's credit card. Then your party follows the Senate Minority Turtle's big brazen idea of not passing anything the President wants to enact, so that he becomes a one term president (how'd that work out for you?). And Boner likes to ask, "Where are the jobs?" while his fellow Republican House buddies refuse to pass jobs bills, as roads and bridges and other infrastructure start failing. How many more people will have to die, as those on that bridge in Minnesota did the other year, before the Rethugs start taking some responsibility for all they don't do for the country? Excuse me, I forgot they'll be needing a little time and money to waste on another ACA repeal vote, and maybe they can shut down the federal government to the tune of another $24 billion. That'll show the president and his henchmen, won't it? I voted for Barack. Twice. And I'd do it again

It is extremely disappointing that House Republicans decided to hold their 50th vote to undermine or repeal the Affordable Care Act today.  Instead of wasting all these votes and all this time, the Republican Majority ought to have focused on working with Democrats to strengthen the law and to advance bipartisan solutions to our nation’s most pressing challenges, including raising the minimum wage, renewing unemployment insurance, and passing comprehensive immigration reform. http://1.usa.gov/1eXOq10
