Committee on the Judiciary

Established in 1813, the House Judiciary Committee is the second oldest standing committee in Congress. The Committee has jurisdiction over all proposed amendments to the Constitution, civil liberties, criminal law, patent and trademark law, immigration, and homeland security.

Committee on Education and the Workforce

The Committee on Education and the Workforce's purpose is to ensure that Americans' needs are addressed so that students and workers may move forward in a changing school system and a competitive global economy. The committee oversees education and workforce programs that affect all Americans, from early learning through secondary education, from job training through retirement.  The Committee on Education and the Workforce has jurisidiction over a wide range of legislation, including the Workforce Investment Act, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Higher Education Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
