Collins Votes for Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act
12/11/13COLLINS VOTES FOR GABRIELLA MILLER KIDS FIRST RESEARCH ACT
Northeast Georgia’s Congressman: “When you can make a difference, no matter how small, it still matters.”
WASHINGTON, Dec 11 – Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) voted today for H.R. 2019, the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act.
Named for a brave little girl who only weeks ago passed away from a painful struggle with brain cancer, the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act redirects federal funds previously used to finance presidential campaigns and national political conventions towards pediatric research.
Congressman Collins personally understands the value of pediatric research. The father of an adult daughter who was born with spina bifida, Congressman Collins shared his own experience:
“Gabriella Miller reminds us that government has the ability and the obligation to strive for the greater good. If we lose sight of that goal, we have failed.” Congressman Collins continued, “Gabriella has won her fight, but young people like my daughter continue theirs. We are reminded that when you can help, you should. When you can make a difference, no matter how small, it still matters, and it’s still worth doing.”
