Congressman May Offer Legislative Remedy if Secretary Lacks Power to Allow Logging Trucks to Avoid Superior Street and Use Highway I-35

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – At a White House meeting this week, Department of Transportation (DoT) Secretary Anthony Foxx agreed to a request by U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan (D-MN) to determine whether he (Foxx) has the authority to temporarily exempt large logging trucks from weight restrictions that presently push the large vehicles onto Duluth’s main downtown thoroughfare, Superior Street.
