Rep. McKinley Named ‘Representative of the Year' by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Washington, D.C.—Today, the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society honored Rep. David. B. McKinley as “Representative of the Year” for his work in support of medical research and his efforts to make specialty drugs affordable to patients with disabling diseases.

“It’s a high honor to be recognized by the MS Society,” said Rep. McKinley. “We have the greatest medical innovation in the world, it is important to never stifle the ground-breaking research being done at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We must also make sure that these new, life-saving treatments are available to all Americans who need them, not just the wealthy.”

Rep. McKinley introduced the bipartisan Patient Access to Treatments Act (H.R. 460), which is supported by Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) and 93 other bipartisan Members of Congress and will allow millions of Americans to have access to critical treatments that can save their lives, or improve their quality of life.

“We’re working together with groups like the Multiple Sclerosis Society because it’s about fairness and caring for people, not a Democrat or a Republican issue,” added McKinley.
