My efforts in the area of foreign affairs are focused on supporting Israel and protecting our national sovereignty.

As the co-chair of two Israel caucuses, I am one Israel's strongest supporters in Congress. Israel is a key ally in the global war against terrorism and for the past sixty years has been a model of democracy and a pillar of humanity in the Middle East.

I support a strong ballistic missile system for Israeli self-protection.  I have met with key Israeli government officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss peace negotiations, Israel's foreign policy and security, and toured defense facilities including the Iron Dome Missile Defense System. 

Israel A Blessing to All Humanity President Ahmadinejad of Iran has claimed that the existence of Israel is “an insult to all humanity.”  Rather than dwell on the mendacity of that lie, it is far more beneficial to declare the truth.  The existence of Israel is a blessing to all humanity.   Israel is a blessing to every human because humanity craves freedom from oppression.  No regime was more oppressive than the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler.  The persecution of Jews under his direction was unprecedented in human history.  Yet, to make the leap from being the target of Hitler’s death camps in 1945 to nationhood and freedom three short years later is astounding.  This example of Jews winning the fight by creating the new state of Israel inspires every rational person. I have visited Israel several times and am always struck by how small the country and its population are and how close the hostile borders are.

The U.S. and Israel share key values of political and religious freedom. The United States must continue to stand by our close friend and democratic ally.  As threats to Israel continue to grow, we must continue to support Israel’s right to defend itself, including its right to enforce a strategic blockade on Hamas-controlled Gaza.  In addition, the United States must quickly and strongly implement sanctions against Iran, a nation that seeks to wipe Israel off the face of this earth.

Congressman Doug Lamborn meets with representatives from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, AIPAC. The group was on Capitol Hill to educate Members of Congress on issues related to Israel, and in particular, the threat of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.
