Van Hollen Offers House Democratic Budget Plan

Dec 5, 2013 Issues: Conference Committee

Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, offered a budget plan that reflects the priorities of House Democrats:

“These budget conference negotiations have dragged on for too long and left important priorities at risk. That is why our plan focuses on growing jobs and the economy, replacing the sequester in a balanced way, and extending unemployment compensation for Americans who are out of work through no fault of their own.  House Democrats believe we must reduce the deficit, but we cannot ask working families to shoulder that burden alone. We will continue to fight for these key provisions as part of the budget negotiations.”
