Committee Leaders Speak in Support of H.R. 3527, the Poison Center Network Act

January 8, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders today spoke in support of H.R. 3527, the Poison Center Network Act. H.R. 3527 was introduced by Energy and Commerce Committee member Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE). The bipartisan legislation reauthorizes important activities related to poison control centers. Poisoning is the second most common form of unintentional death in the United States and most of these exposures will involve children under the age of six. Poison control centers offer cost-effective and life-saving services to families that prevent deaths and expensive trips to the hospital.

Today’s passage builds on bipartisan accomplishments achieved by the committee last year. The House passed the bill by a vote of 388 to 18.
