Congressman Brad Sherman: Town Hall Meeting

Please come to my Valley Town Hall Meeting.  This will be a chance for me to hear your views on the economy, taxes, the budget, mortgages, Social Security and Medicare—and all the other issues facing Congress.  By listening to Valley residents, I am able to reflect Valley values when voting in Congress. My constituent services staff will also be on hand to help address any problems you may have with any federal agency.  The event, parking and refreshments are free.

Sunday, August 25th
2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
El Camino High School
5440 Valley Circle Blvd.
Woodland Hills

Congressman Sherman and his Chief Deputy, Matt Dababneh, meet with a Valley resident to discuss business issues.

Constituent Services

Among the most important things my offices do is solve problems for local residents and businesses. My staff and I are always pleased to assist you with questions or problems you might encounter with federal agencies. While we cannot order a federal agency to decide a matter in your favor, we usually can help you get a prompt response. Here are just a few of the areas where we may be able to help:

  • Tours in Washington, D.C
  • Nominations to military academies
  • Visas and naturalization
  • Passports
  • Student financial aid
  • Postal service issues
  • Congressional internships

Help with Valley Businesses

My Valley and Washington offices regularly provide assistance to Valley businesses. Our offices have important information about financing, assistance to exporters, and selling to the U.S. government. We work closely with the Valley Economic Development Center and the Small Business Administration’s (SBA’s) Small Business Development Centers.

We can also help businesses address problems related to federal agencies such as the IRS, the SBA, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Through our efforts, we have helped Valley businesses resolve bureaucratic errors and avoid costly delays to ensure their continued success.

For help with business issues, call my Chief Deputy, Matt Dababneh at (818) 501-9200 or email Matt.Dababneh@mail.house.gov.

For help with trade, customs and international issues, call my foreign policy advisor, Don MacDonald at (202) 225-5911.

Help for Valley Veterans

We do everything we can to keep America’s promises to our veterans. My staff regularly assists veterans who need help with VA disability benefits, veterans’ and survivors’ pensions, VA medical services, burial benefits, obtaining and correcting military records, and awarding overdue or lost military service medals.

Help for Seniors

We can help seniors understand their eligibility and enrollment options for Medicare and assist with reimbursement difficulties. We can also help resolve problems with the Social Security Administration, including retirement and survivor benefits, disability and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Constituent Service Success Stories

Here are a just a couple examples of the work my constituent service staff does on a daily basis:

Tamara Fowler with her niece Michelle Fowler

Tamara Fowler was scheduled to wait several months for a hearing to apply for Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits. My office contacted the Social Security Administration on Mrs. Fowler’s behalf—not only was she able to obtain an appointment immediately, but she was approved for much needed disability benefits after the appeals council issued a favorable decision in her favor.

Sherman's constitituent service staffer Lisa Montano worked with the IRS to help resolve Ms. Jackson's dispute.

Public school teacher Kerry Jackson worked diligently to resolve a dispute with the IRS regarding the amount of taxes she owed. Her efforts were ignored by the IRS for years. Fearing that her future pension would be garnished, Ms. Jackson contacted my office for help. Lisa Montano, one of my caseworker’s, was able to help Ms. Jackson work with the IRS to resolve the dispute, allowing Ms. Jackson to devote her full attention to taking care of her family and students.
