(Louisville, KY) Today, Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) announced he is hosting a major day-long event to help job seekers in Louisville improve their job-hunting techniques and hear directly from local employers about the kinds of skills they look for when hiring new workers.  To help the unemployed, the underemployed, or those looking to change their careers, workshops will be led by career coaches and local human resource managers, who will also participate in one-on-one sessions with individuals seeking resume advice and interviewing tips.  Hosted in conjunction with KentuckianaWorks and the Louisville Urban League, Congressman Yarmuth’s event is free and open to residents of the 3^rd Congressional District. 

“This event is an opportunity for my constituents to obtain and strengthen the skills they need to take full advantage of the recovering economy and the new jobs that will continue to be created in the weeks and months ahead,” said Congressman Yarmuth.

“Congressman John Yarmuth continues to be innovative and responsive to residents of the 3^rd Congressional District by providing this job hunters workshop where his constituents can obtain the necessary tools to build and sharpen their job-seeking skills in a tough job market,” said KentuckianaWorks Executive Director Michael B. The “Build Your Skills: A Job Hunter’s Guide to Success” event will be emceed by longtime broadcast journalist Jean West and feature special guest speakers including Churchill Downs, Incorporated COO Bill Carstanjen – who recently appeared on the CBS program “Undercover Boss.”
