WASHINGTON – Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) issued the following statement on meeting with Louisville Honor Flight veterans at the National World War II Memorial today, the 68^th anniversary of D-Day:

“On this special day, I was honored to join Honor Flight participants and World War II veterans from Louisville and across the Commonwealth. It was an incredible opportunity to be with them as they visited the National World War II Memorial for the first time, and to thank them for their service. As part of the Greatest Generation, they will always be defined by their honor, sense of duty, and sacrifice on behalf of our nation.”

The Louisville veterans are part of a group of 28 Kentucky veterans of World War II who traveled from Louisville to Washington this morning to visit the National World War II Memorial for the first time. They are part of the Honor Flight program, which transports veterans to Washington to see the national memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
