Wagner: Omnibus Continues Downward Trend in Federal Spending

Jan 15, 2014
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) today issued the following statement after the House passed, in bipartisan fashion, the fiscal year 2014 Consolidated Appropriations legislation:

"Today the House passed in strong bipartisan fashion a bill that will cut $21.4 billion from last year, provide more certainty to the American people and prevents a government shutdown," said Rep. Ann Wagner. This measure, for the fourth year in a row, cuts discretionary spending to levels before President Obama took office. And for millions of families feeling the devastating consequences of government run health-care, it freezes ObamaCare funding and takes $1 billion out of an unregulated slush fund designed to assist in ObamaCare implementation. It also takes a step in the right direction to honor our solemn covenant with our veterans by fixing a provision that ensures approximately 63,000 medically retired personnel and survivors receive their full yearly cost-of-living increase. While this deal is far from perfect, it's past time to restore regular order and get the job done for the American people."
