Levin Statement on Possible Administrative Action on Inversions

Aug 5, 2014

WASHINGTON – Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) today made the following statement after the Obama Administration said it is looking at possible ways to address the issue of corporate inversions. Ranking Member Levin also commented on reports that Walgreen has decided not to invert:

“The Administration is right to look carefully at any options it may have to stem the flow of corporate inversions. The discussion of possible administrative actions should not be an excuse for Congress to drag its feet on legislation to address the issue. Corporate inversions, as well as other tax avoidance strategies, threaten to cause long-term damage to the U.S. tax base and increase the tax burden on ordinary Americans – and swift collective action is required. I am glad to see reports today that Walgreen has decided not to invert.”
