WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today congratulating the leaders of the New Democrat Coalition for the 114th Congress, including Rep. Ron Kind, Rep. Gerry Connolly, Rep. Jim Himes, Rep. Susan Davis, Rep. Jared Polis, and Rep. John Carney, as well as new Members who were inducted into the Coalition today:

“I join in congratulating Rep. Ron Kind on his re-election as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, along with Vice Chairs Gerry Connolly and Jim Himes.  I also want to congratulate their newly elected Vice Chairs Susan Davis and Jared Polis, along with Rep. John Carney as Whip.  The New Democrat Coalition’s leadership team for the 114th Congress brings to the table a firm commitment to the goals of promoting economic growth and  fiscal sustainability through bipartisan cooperation.  New Democrats understand that America’s economic success has always taken off when Members work together across the aisle to support commonsense investments in expanding our private sector and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship. I look forward to working with Chairman Kind and his new team to advance these goals in the next Congress, and I congratulate incoming Members Pete Aguilar, Brad Ashford, Don Beyer, Gwen Graham, and Kathleen Rice on their induction into the Coalition today.”
