McCaul Statement on States’ Lawsuit Against President’s Executive Actions

Dec 4, 2014 Issues: Border Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on the lawsuit filed by a coalition of 17 states against the Obama administration over the president's executive actions on immigration. The coalition, led by Texas, filed the lawsuit yesterday in U.S. District Court in Texas.

Chairman McCaul: “Attorney General Abbott is right –our immigration system is broken, and we need to fix it. However, Obama’s unilateral actions to bypass Congress undermine the constitution and threaten our democracy. I’m proud that once again Texas is leading the fight against Washington overreach. I will continue to use every tool at my disposal to stop the implementation of the executive action, and put into place a strong plan to secure our southern border.”
