New Democrat Coalition Adds Two Members

Washington, D.C. – The New Democrat Coalition voted unanimously to induct two new members today, Reps. Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) and Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ). The Coalition, a pro-growth, pro-innovation group of House Democrats today encompasses over one-fourth of the entire Democratic Caucus.

“I’m honored to welcome Tony and Ann to the New Democrat Coalition,” Chairman Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) said in a statement. “Both of them exemplify what it means to be a New Democrat in today’s turbulent Washington – they’re pragmatic, moderate problem-solvers who believe in building compromise from the middle out.”

“For me, joining the New Democrat Coalition was the obvious choice,” Rep. Cárdenas said. “Families in the San Fernando Valley aren’t interested in which politician is winning or losing in Washington, DC. They’re much more concerned about who is reaching across the aisle to create new American jobs, unleash the unmatched innovative potential of our economy and put our country on the path to a sound fiscal footing.”

“Bipartisanship is the key to getting things done in Congress, and that’s why I’m proud to be a member of the New Democrat Coalition,” Rep. Kirkpatrick said. “I’ve always worked across the aisle to find common ground, and the New Democrats embrace that type of leadership. In my Arizona district, we know that innovation and job creation strengthen our working families, so I’m glad to join a coalition of leaders who share these priorities.”

The New Democrat Coalition is dedicated to maintaining America’s standing as the world’s strongest, most successful nation. Founded in 1997, the New Dems believe firmly in the power of American ingenuity and innovation, and are focused on finding ways to foster and harness this creativity to grow our economy, create new American jobs, and ensure a safer and more secure future for our country.
