David Wentzel - Fellow

David Wentzel enlisted in the Army in March 2002.

As a member of the Minnesota National Guard he deployed twice with the 34th Infantry Division, 1st Brigade Contact Team. He was in Iraq from July 2007 to May 2008 and was stationed in Kuwait from July 2011 to May 2012.

Wentzel found the U.S. House of Representatives’ Wounded Warrior Program through the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans.

In July 2013, he was hired as a Veterans Constituent Case Worker for the office of Congressman Tim Walz. In his position Wentzel advocates for veterans’ issues and conducts outreach in the community.

Wentzel says that “the most challenging aspect of the job is knowing my limits and what I can or cannot do for some of the veterans seeking help.”  He noted he finds it rewarding to be able to help veterans obtain the benefits they have earned and to reach their full potential.
