As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications on the House Committee on Homeland Security, I fight to keep our families and communities safe by ensuring our first responders have the necessary resources and training they need to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate a terrorist threat or natural disaster. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, overseeing the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Sandy Relief is a priority to ensure vital funding is distributed to families and businesses that are in dire need of recovery. In this capacity, I am commitment to increasing the safety at Newark Liberty Airport and our transportation systems, strengthening protections at Port Newark and Port Elizabeth while maintaining the flow of commerce, and preventing against cyber threats to our critical infrastructure and private industry.
