I am a strong believer that innovation is what America does best. And that technology and science-driven policies are how we can best meet many of our 21st century challenges.

New Mexico — with our national labs, universities, and military installations — holds much promise to lead the nation in innovation and technology. The very character of our state has been shaped by hard work and a history of innovation. The technology industry, both public and private, supports nearly 50,000 jobs, at over 2,000 technology establishments throughout New Mexico.

No area of innovation and science will be more important than in our nation’s ability to tackle climate change and to lead the world in clean energy technology. The frontiers of human knowledge can be boundless, and if we harness them, will continue to fuel our nation’s prosperity.

  • Heinrich Introduces Bill To Boost Tech Transfer

    U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, introduced S. 2932, the Microlab Technology Commercialization Act of 2014, a bill to accelerate technology transfer by establishing off-campus microlabs that would serve as the "front-door" to national laboratories. The microlabs would give academia, local government, businesses owners, and communities direct access to the equipment, facilities, and personnel of our national labs. Read More


  • Udall, Heinrich Announce Funding To Improve Public Television Access For Zuni Pueblo

    Today, U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich announced $65,000 in federal grant funding to improve public television reception in rural areas of McKinley County. The grant, made available by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Public Television Digital Transition Grant Program, will allow New Mexico PBS to replace its existing analog system and install a new low-power digital translator for the KNME-TV Zuni Pueblo Digital Television Project, which provides service to the Zuni Pueblo area. Read More
