Why Do An Internship With the Budget Committee?

An internship with the House Budget Committee provides students with a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the American political system by working on Capitol Hill.  The Budget Committee Internship Program is an exciting and educational experience that offers broad insight into the legislative policy-making process while allowing students the chance to apply classroom learning to real Congressional work.

What Type of Work Will You Do?

As an intern on the House Budget Committee, you will be treated as a member of the office staff.  Interns provide vital functions by assisting Committee staff in assignments that include compiling the Daily Budget News, sorting and processing mail, answering the phones, assembling reference material, administrative support, and special projects.  Much of the work you will do is actual work performed on a daily basis by other members of the Committee support system.

What Are the Advantages of Doing a Congressional Internship?

As a Congressional intern, you will gain full time work experience that can help ease the transition from the college classroom to the workforce.  You will have the opportunity to spend several months living in our nation’s capital, and meet prominent government and public figures. In addition, you will receive academic credit in coordination with your respective college or university.

Who is Eligible?

            Participation in the program is open to any undergraduate college student who is a United States Citizen or has valid working Visa.
