WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), vice chairman of the House Budget Committee and a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement after the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures held a hearing focused on a dynamic analysis of Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp’s tax reform discussion draft. Congressman Price, a long-time supporter of utilizing a dynamic analysis in the legislative process, is the sponsor of the Pro-Growth Budgeting Act (H.R. 1874) which would require the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to provide a longer-term, macroeconomic analysis of legislation. This realistic scoring bill was passed by the House of Representatives on April 4, 2014.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed several pieces of legislation this week to expand educational opportunities, empower students, and make education and family living expenses easier to afford. The legislation approved by the House includes the Advancing Competency-Based Education Demonstration Project Act (H.R. 3136), the Empowering Students Through Enhanced Counseling Act (H.R. 4984), the Child Tax Credit Improvement Act (H.R. 4935), the Student and Family Tax Simplification Act (H.R. 3393) and the Strengthening Transparency in Higher Education Act (H.R. 4983).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06) along with a bipartisan group of 137 members in the House of Representatives sent a letter to Inspector General Daniel Levinson at the Department of Health and Human Services requesting the OIG conduct a study of Medicare’s Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) competitive bidding program and the National Mail Order Program for diabetic testing supplies. The purpose of the study is to determine what impact these Medicare programs are having on the accessibility and quality of care for beneficiaries in light of evidence that the programs are not adequately addressing manipulation occurring in the bidding process, a proliferation of non-compliance by contractors and inadequate transparency measures. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06) issued the following statement after two U.S. Court of Appeals rulings. The D.C. Circuit ruled that Obamacare only allows subsidies to be provided for the purchase of health care from exchanges setup by the states, not by the Federal government. The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond has ruled that subsidies are to be provided across all exchanges.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), vice chairman of the House Budget Committee and a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement after introducing an amendment to the Financial Services appropriations bill that would prohibit any funding contained within the legislation from being used by the IRS to unlawfully disclose taxpayer information. This effort follows reports that the IRS was party to the release of confidential tax return information to unauthorized groups in violation of Section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code. Price's amendment was adopted by voice vote.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06) issued the following statement after joining Congressman Greg Walden (OR-02) in introducing the Securing Access Via Excellence (SAVE) Medicare Home Health Act. This legislation would replace Obamacare’s cuts to Medicare home health funding with a value-based purchasing (VBP) program that would achieve the same level of savings in the Medicare program while protecting beneficiaries’ access to home health care. The home health value-based purchasing program would be similar to the Skilled Nursing Facility Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program that was signed into law earlier this year as part of a larger effort to avoid cuts to physician Medicare payments.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), vice chairman of the House Budget Committee and a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed legislation to make permanent a provision in the tax code allowing businesses to claim a “bonus depreciation” deduction of 50 percent of the value of qualified property. This provision in the tax code expired in 2013 but had previously been temporarily extended on multiple occasions.
