Committees

Much of the work that goes into crafting laws and overseeing government operations takes place in committees. These committee assignments allow me to continue working to grow and strengthen the middle class through education, economic opportunity, and investment that reflects our values of fairness and shared responsibility. Access to a quality, affordable education, a fair and livable wage, and the prospect of a secure retirement are critical national priorities. 

Committee on Energy and Commerce

• The Committee on Energy and Commerce oversees federal programs and initiatives dealing with health care and implementation of the Affordable Care Act, national energy policy, the environment, advanced manufacturing and technology, commerce and trade, telecommunications and cybersecurity, and consumer protection.

Committee on the Budget

• Creating a repsonsible federal budget is key to revitalizing our economy and building a strong foundation for future generations. The Committee analyzes the President’s budget recommendations and reconciles it with Congressional priorities to craft legislation that will chart all federal government expenditures.
