Press Releases

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) released the following statement about apparent targeting of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service:

“The admission from the IRS that it has been targeting conservative groups for extra scrutiny is completely unacceptable. The IRS should never be used by any administration as an extension of their politics. Both Democrats and Republicans should be outraged. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I strongly support Chairman Dave Camp’s decision to hold hearings to find out exactly how this happened and how it can be prevented from ever occurring again. The bottom line is that Americans should never fear repercussions from exercising their First Amendment rights, especially not from the world’s largest tax collection agency.”

Rep. Renacci is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he is a member of the Ways and Means Committee. Prior to his election he worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the health care industry, and owned and operated over 60 other businesses in the automotive and sports management fields.
