Appropriations Information

As a Member of the House Committee on Appropriations, I serve on three Subcommittees in the 113th Congress: Chairman of the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee and member of the Defense Appropriations and the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittees.

Cutting wasteful government spending, reviewing regulations, reforming entitlements, and instituting pro-growth tax reform, which broadens the base, lowers rates, raises revenues, and reduces the debt are some of the areas we’ll review at the Financial Services Appropriations Subcommittee.

A seat on the Defense Appropriations Committee will allow me to ensure that the needs of our nation’s military bases, including those in Northeast Florida, are met and that our servicemen and women have the necessary tools to wage the war on terror at home and around the globe. A central part of that national security mission is the homeporting of a nuclear aircraft carrier at Naval Station Mayport – a fight I will continue until a carrier sails into Mayport.

As a member of the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, I look forward to reviewing programs that help shape our international policy objectives. Through effective delivery of foreign assistance, our nation can achieve stable international relationships, accountability and transparency, access and development of sustainable global markets, poverty reduction, and greater national security. In our increasingly interconnected world, these goals are in everyone’s best interest.
