Academy Fact Sheet

As a Member of the United States Congress, it is my honor to nominate young men and women to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The nomination process for the Second Congressional District of Texas is very competitive for the limited number of nominations available, and the selection of those nominees is always a difficult decision for my independent Service Academy Nomination Board.

Our Service Academies are among the finest schools in our great nation. They teach academics but also instill discipline, commitment and leadership in the young Americans who attend. In selecting nominees, my Service Academy Nomination Board looks for well-rounded applicants and also considers academic qualifications, SAT/ACT scores and demonstrated leadership. Being physically and medically fit are vital.

Please note the following

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy bases admissions on competitive nationwide examinations and does not have a Congressional Nominee Program for applicants. Application is made directly to the Academy, Office of the Director of Admissions, New London, CT 06320. For additional information, please visit the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at: http://www.cga.edu/
