(Washington) – Today, Congressman John B. Larson released the following statement on the passing of Trude Mero, a long-time community activist in Hartford and former Chair of the Connecticut African-American Affairs Commission:

"Trude Mero epitomized advocacy in Connecticut. A first-hand witness to the evils of segregation and racism, Trude stood boldly against injustice in Hartford. A loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend, Trude Mero was a pillar of her community and will be missed by those fortunate enough to have known her. I am saddened by the news of her passing and extend my thoughts and prayers to her family during these tough times."
