Van Hollen Statement on CBO Report on Economic Effects of the President’s 2015 Budget

Jul 22, 2014

Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) report on the Economic Effects of the President’s 2015 Budget:

“Today’s CBO report reaffirms its earlier findings that, compared to current law, the President’s Budget would boost the size of our economy and reduce future deficits and debt.  The biggest action Congress could take to improve our economic outlook is to pass the President’s immigration reform proposal – yet House Republicans refuse to even consider this commonsense idea.  Instead, they are in the process of passing a series of unpaid-for tax breaks that will increase the debt by nearly $1 trillion.”
