Information Sharing and State and Local Fusion Centers

State and major urban area fusion centers are the primary point for receiving, analyzing, and sharing terrorist threat-related information among Federal, State, local, and tribal partners.  Information sharing, cooperation, and collaboration across the intelligence and law enforcement communities at all levels are essential to preventing and responding to terrorist attacks.  The Committee on Homeland Security supports a robust two-way flow of information in which intelligence analysts in State and major urban area fusion centers receive the training necessary to fully participate in the analytic process to meet the needs of local stakeholders as well as contribute to the national counterterrorism mission.

Going forward, the Committee will continue its rigorous oversight of the Department of Homeland Security’s support to the sustainment and maturation of the National Network of Fusion Centers.
