Job-Creating Summer Activities at Vail Mountain Given Green Light Thanks to Udall's Bipartisan Ski Area Jobs Bill
Udall's Bipartisan Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act Allows Ski Areas to Create Jobs, Drive Tourism Year-Round
Mark Udall, a champion for Colorado businesses and job creators, welcomed the news today that Vail Mountain has received the green light to develop job-creating and tourism-driving summer activities thanks to his Bipartisan Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act. The ski area has proposed a wide range of new activities expected to strengthen Eagle County's economy and drive job creation year-round.
"Vail Mountain's new activities show how my landmark, bipartisan Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act is helping move Colorado forward. These new activities will create jobs, drive tourism and keep Colorado's economy on the right track," Udall said. "I will keep working with Colorado's ski areas and the U.S. Forest Service to ensure my bipartisan ski area jobs law is used to strengthen local economies, support jobs and protect our natural resources."
Vail Resorts, which owns Vail Mountain, is expected to start construction on its development next summer.
The Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act, which Udall authored and pushed through Congress with broad bipartisan support, strengthens Colorado's mountain communities and stabilizes local jobs throughout the year by allowing ski areas on federal land to offer summer activities such as mountain bike trails, disc golf courses and zip lines. Udall attended the grand opening of the Vail Mountain zipline last summer.
