Udall Pledges to Fight to Restore Wind Production Tax Credit in 2014 Tax-Extenders Bill
'I Will Keep Fighting ... to Ensure We Keep the Wind at the Backs of Wind-Energy Companies in Colorado, Across Our Nation'
Mark Udall, who has championed Colorado's balanced energy strategy as a model for the nation, decried the U.S. Senate Finance Committee's announcement today that the wind Production Tax Credit will not be part of its initial tax-extenders package it will mark up this week. Udall pledged to keep fighting to ensure the U.S. Senate renews this job-creating tax credit, which supports thousands of manufacturing jobs in Colorado and across the nation.
"Wind energy is a critical component of Colorado and our nation's energy strategy. I am concerned that the Senate Finance Committee's decision to leave the Production Tax Credit for wind energy out of its tax-extenders package could threaten the progress we've made developing Made-in-America manufacturing jobs and energy, particularly here in Colorado," Udall said. "This, however, is not the end for the wind PTC. I will keep fighting in Congress to ensure we keep the wind at the backs of wind-energy companies in Colorado and across our nation. The wind PTC is a smart investment in our economy and one that strengthens our energy security."
Udall has been the leading voice to renew the wind Production Tax Credit in Congress. He successfully led the push to renew the credit for 2013 and has worked across the aisle to work to renew it this year.
