Udall Marks 13th Anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 Terror Attacks
Mark Udall, who serves on the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee and the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement on the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:
"The Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks shook our nation 13 years ago today. However, even as we mourned the more than 3,000 Americans murdered in these tragic attacks, we also saw our nation at its best. From the first responders who selflessly rushed to rescue their fellow Americans that day to the millions of our friends, family members and neighbors who came together to support the victims and their families, we rose to meet this challenge.
"Today, we face new challenges around the world, most recently the rise of the Islamic State and the threat it poses to American interests. As we confront this brutal and growing terrorist force, I call on all Coloradans to continue to honor the heroism we saw 13 years ago and to remember the strength our nation has shown in the days, weeks and years since. I also urge everyone to thank our men and women in uniform here and around the world who continue to risk everything to protect our freedom and strengthen our security."
