Refitting Excess Military Aircraft for Firefighting Fleet

Posted: Friday, March 14, 2014

In today's era of modern mega-fires, minutes can make a difference in saving lives and property. We must take every possible step to prepare ourselves, which is why I am pressing the U.S. Forest Service to deliver new modernized air tankers as promised, and to work with the U.S. Air Force to swiftly repurpose seven excess military aircraft to help fight wildfires in Colorado. While air tankers cannot fight fires alone, they are essential resources that can help firefighters prevent small blazes from turning into the next destructive mega-fire. That's why I'm fighting to ensure we have a modern and reliable aerial firefighting fleet.

If you have further questions about this or any other issue, please contact me with your concerns.
