Witness Wednesdays: Share Your Story

On Wednesdays during June and July, House Democrats will join faith, civil rights and nonprofit leaders to read stories of Americans whose unemployment insurance was prematurely cut off because of the refusal by House Republicans to extend the emergency unemployment insurance program. Through the beginning of June, more than three million individuals had been cut off unemployment benefits because of the program's Dec. 28, 2013 expiration. Never before has Congress allowed an emergency unemployment insurance program to expire with the long-term unemployment rate as high as it remains today. More than a third of jobless Americans have been out of work for longer than six months.

Share your story so that House Democrats can make it clear how important it is that Congress renew unemployment insurance.
