LARSON APPOINTED TO HOUSE LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (CA-08), the incoming Democratic Leader in the House of Representatives, announced today that she has appointed Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) to serve on the Democratic Steering Committee in the 108th Congress, which convenes in January.

Larson stated: "It is an honor to have been appointed to the Steering Committee by Nancy Pelosi, our next Democratic Leader in the House of Representatives. I look forward to working with her, other members of leadership and all my colleagues to help determine the direction of the Caucus and move us forward. I also look forward to working with my colleague from the Connecticut Delegation, Rosa DeLauro, who was appointed co-chair of the committee. I certainly welcome this challenge and the opportunity to serve. "

The Steering Committee determines the committee assignments for members of the Democratic Caucus and helps map out the party's course in the House. Larson was one of only 15 appointments made by Congresswoman Pelosi.

The committee includes all members of the Democratic Leadership in the House, representatives elected by region and 15 other members appointed by the Democratic Leader.
