LARSON CALLS ON SPEAKER TO ALLOW PASSAGE OF COLTSVILLE STUDY ACT

HARTFORD- U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) today called on Speaker Dennis Hastert and the House Republican leadership to schedule the Coltsville Study Act (S. 2519, H.R. 4736) for consideration by unanimous consent when the House meets Friday in a "pro forma" session to pass technical changes to the Homeland Security bill. Congressman Larson has been working with the Democratic Leadership to ensure that the Coltsville Study Act would be part of any package of non-controversial legislation taken up by the House on Friday, should the Republican Leadership allow such initiatives to the floor.

Larson stated: "Earlier this week, the Senate passed their version of the Coltsville Study Act by unanimous consent, and the House now has an opportunity to follow suit. There are several outstanding non-controversial pieces of legislation that are still awaiting action in addition to the Coltsville legislation and I urge the Speaker and the Republican Leadership to take action on these important initiatives before adjourning the 107th Congress."

Larson is the sponsor of the House version of the legislation which calls for the Interior Department to conduct a feasibility study of the Coltsville section of Hartford for possible inclusion in the National Park System.
