LARSON AIDE NOMINATED FOR PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD NAMED FOR LATE U.S. REP. JOSEPH MOAKLEY

HARTFORD- Lisa H. Perrone, a District Aide in the Hartford office of U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) was named as one of ten finalists to receive the first annual Congressman John Joseph Moakley Award for Exemplary Public Service, named for the late Massachusetts lawmaker. The award was established to honor the achievements of an outstanding staff member from the New England Congressional Delegation to be presented annually during Public Service Recognition Week, which falls in May. This year, the award was given to Dorothy Reichard, the District Director for Congressman Barney Frank (MA).

Larson said: I am very proud to have Lisa Perrone on my staff. Her dedication to the people of the First District and to the cause of public service makes her invaluable to my office and the people I was elected to serve. Her hard work on behalf of seniors is particularly exemplary.

Perrone said: I am absolutely thrilled to have been considered a finalist for this prestigious award. I am also humbled by the work of the other nominees. It is so important that the tireless efforts of congressional employees is recognized in this fashion because we care about the public we serve as much as we do our own families. This acknowledgement helps to put a human face on the governmental institution.

The Greater Boston Federal Executive Board sponsors the award as part of the Excellence in Government Awards established in 1974 and was presented at John F. Kennedy Library last week. According to the board, nominees should demonstrate strong, innovative methods of thinking, and effectively work on behalf of their constituents, the people of New England and the nation.
